A circuit containing a resistor, capacitor and inductor where resonant frequency is met, what will the impedance of the circuit be?

  • Maximum.
  • Resistance across the resistor.
  • Zero.

The question does not say if the LCR circuit is in series or parallel. Series RLC at resonance: XL and XC cancel, leaving only R. Impedance = low (just R, could be very low if R is small). Parallel RLC at resonance: XL and XC still cancel in terms of reactance, but because the components are in parallel, this results in high impedance - approaching infinite in the ideal case

Marek_AME: B. You are right, question does not say series or parallel, marked answer fits the series case where XL and XC cancel and only resistor remains, in parallel it would be maximum instead.

What must you do to make a 3 F capacitor circuit into a 2 F circuit?

Tudorache: because when you but a capacitor in series the capacity eq will be lower than the smaller one, here we have a capacitor of 3 Farad the question is: "how i must to connect another capacitor for have a total capacitance of 2 Farad?" If you put a capacitor of 6 Farad IN SERIES with a 3 Farad if you apply the correct formula: 1/Cx plus 1/Cy = 1/C equivalent

* Absolute (Kelvin) is used in thermodynamics * Fahrenheit is not used in electrical resistance standards * Centigrade is the practical engineering reference point for resistance temperature coefficients

Devraj_S: The correct option is B. The temperature coefficient of resistance is normally tabulated per degree Centigrade, with the reference point taken at 20 degrees Celsius. Refer to Module 3.7 resistance and resistors for the standard R equals R nought times one plus alpha times delta T relation.

Current transformer cores are constructed from thin laminated silicon-steel sheets in order to minimise eddy current losses while retaining the high permeability required for accurate ratio reproduction. Solid steel exhibits excessive eddy current heating, and an air core would not provide sufficient magnetic coupling for a metering CT, per Module 3.15 transformers.

he stability windings (often called damping or amortisseur windings) in a 3-phase AC generator are primarily designed to dampen mechanical rotor oscillations and stabilize the machine. They do not actively "sense" overvoltages or phase shifts; those conditions are monitored by external protection relays.

Tomash: Should be A. When we chase a hunting fault on an IDG it is almost always a damper-winding issue, that is what they are there for, damping field oscillations on a synchronous machine. Overvolt and phase shift are GCU and protection-relay territory, never the rotor winding.

Devraj_S: The marked answer is correct here. Nickel-cadmium aircraft batteries are stored fully discharged, typically with shorting links fitted across the cells so any residual charge cannot drive dendrite growth between the plates. You may be thinking of lead-acid practice, which is the opposite case; per Module 3.6 secondary cells, lead-acid must be stored fully charged to prevent sulphation.

Due to armature reaction in a DC motor ,the leading pole tips are magnetically weakened .the armature flux opposes the main field flux ate leading tip and aids it at the trailing tip :due to magnetic saturation ,the net effect is a reduction in flux at the leading tip overall demagnetization.
