Flux losses in a transformer can be prevented by
- winding the primary on top of the secondary.
- the use of primary shielding.
- laminating the core.
Explanation
Flux (leakage) loss is reduced by tightening the magnetic coupling between windings, achieved by winding the primary directly over the secondary on the same limb so almost all flux links both. Laminating the core addresses eddy currents rather than leakage flux, and primary shielding does not improve coupling.
boholbo asking:
How about 'laminating the core' ?
