A DC generator armature has 6 poles and is lap wound. The number of brushes required are

  • 2.
  • 3.
  • 6.

Explanation from PART66Online

A lap winding has as many parallel paths as poles, and therefore needs one brush set per pole. A six-pole lap-wound machine thus requires six brushes, in contrast to a wave winding which needs only two.

If the slip ring turns why e need 6 brushes, and why 2 isn't enough?

I think it has to have the same Nº of poles and Brushes

Each pole needs to have 1 brush so 6 poles = 6 brushes
