Module 3. Electrical fundamentals

What is the combined value of resistances of 4 ohm and 6 ohm connected in parallel?

  • 2.4 ohm.
  • 0.24 ohm.
  • 24 ohm.

Explanation

For two resistors in parallel the product-over-sum rule applies: (4 x 6) / (4 + 6) = 24/10 = 2.4 ohms. The result is always less than the smaller resistor (4 ohms), which rules out the 24-ohm answer.

can somebody explain me!

RT= (R1xR2)/(R1+R2)
= (4x6) / (4+6)
= 24/10

R- (product)/(sum) = (4x6)/(4+6)=24/10=2.4
