Module 3. Electrical fundamentals

The smallest particle that a substance can be split and show the same properties as the whole is known as

  • an Element.
  • a Molecule.
  • an Atom.

Explanation

A molecule is the smallest particle of a substance that can exist independently and still display the chemical properties of the whole substance. An atom is the smallest part of an element only, and an element is a type of substance rather than a particle, so the molecule is the correct answer here.

RokasPak asking:

wrong answer? Molecule is the smallest while retaining properties.

I think marked answer is wrong, correct one is B. Atom is smallest part of element, but molecule is smallest part of substance that still keeps same properties.
