Solidity of the rotor is the ratio of the

This question has a 100% wrong answer.It should be the opposite .The correct term is solidity=disk area/blade area.

Jordi: yeah i was confused back then thank you man for the answer. The correct is yours my answer it wwong in case someone reads it in the future. Solidity = area of main rotor blades/ total rotor disk area.

Jordi: thank you for the answer,i managed to pass the module on my first try . Unfortunatelly not many questions (in my case) were from this site , so i would also advise people to read their textbooks.

A helicopter tail rotor is fitted to

Please write your comment here.may be it is to counter main rotor torque and not engine torque ans ist seems more appropriate

Jordi: i agree with edya but to be more correct between the 2 answers counteract main rotor torque is more correct and to the point than engine torque.So even if you have a question without the next sentence,you should pick the counteract main rotor one.

lift generated by a blade is proportional to relative airflow & the airspeed as mentioned in this question. Can anybody throw light on this ?

Jordi: i think the correct is relative airflow and angle of attack because at hover the a/c doesnt move so we dont use "aircraft speed" but we still hover and have lift.Also if we change the angle of attack of the blade so does the lift .So Lift changes with relative airflow and AOA .Also i have a pdf with questions and this question is 2 times with different answers.1 answer is this and the other has correct with aircraft speed.But for me this answer is the best.

The stalling speed of an helicopter blade

  • is increased when the helicopter is heavier.
  • is increased when the helicopter is lighter.

Blade stall is more likely when the HC is heavier. Does that not mean that the stalling speed of the blade is increased when the HC is lighter and will stall at a lower speed when the HC is heavier? Just getting ready for my A3 and this is confusing me!

Jordi: no it is simple as that when it is heavy high stalling speed when it is light low stalling speed. Dont be confused my friiend.
