A compass has a residual deviation of +1 degree. To fly a heading of 180 degrees the pilot must steer

Hello , i am thinking that the correct answer in this question is 181 degrees .If the deviation is +1 dergee that means that if the compas heading to 181 degrees the arcraft goes heading 180 degrees ( 181 degrees - (+1) degree = 180 degrees). On the other hand if the pilot steer to 179 degree the compass will show 180 degree but the plane would travel too 179 degrees . Is this right or am i wrong to somehtink? thank you for your time , George

Lisa_T: Hey George, this one's tricky, you've got the correction running the wrong way round. It's 179, because a plus one deviation means the compass is reading one degree low, so when the aircraft is genuinely pointing at 180 the card in front of you shows 179, and that lower number is what you steer to. Same idea as a watch that runs a minute slow, if you need to be somewhere at 8 o'clock you set off when the watch says 7:59, you work to what the dial shows and not what you wish it showed. The memory line for it is deviation east, compass least, and a compass correction card would read for 180 steer 179, so that's how I'd read it.

ONE ANSWER IS ONLY NITROGEN AND ANOTHER SAYS nitrogen and not more than 5% of air. WHICH ONE IS CORRECT?

AnyaK: Because ATA 32 braked wheels must stay low on oxygen so the hot tyre liner does not gas off and ignite, answer is plain nitrogen. The certification limit is 5 percent oxygen by volume, not 5 percent air, so that second option is just a worded-up distractor.

refer to JAR 25.733 Tyres (e) tyres mounted on brakedwheels must be inflated with dry nitrogen or other gases shown to be inert so that the gas mixture inthe tyre does not contain oxygen in excess of 5% by volume.. nitrogen and not more than 5% of air, will be more correct?

i would say that the shock absorber has the role of absorbing the shock(ergo the name), at the same time, oil being uncompressible would rather damp the rebound allowed by the nitrogen in the strut.

why tip? In swept-wing aircraft, the airflow partially moves toward the wingtip (the "spanwise flow" effect), causing a different lift distribution compared to straight wings. To avoid stability and controllability issues during a stall, the aerodynamic design is often optimized so that the wing root stalls before the tip.

True airspeed/speed of sound = mach number. So if descending below tropopause doesn't it mean that Mach number will increase at constant aircraft airspeed? Since the temperature will rise? Or I am getting it wrong?
