If one FMS fails in a dual system
- the flight plan is lost and must be re-entered into the remaining FMS
- the remaining FMS keeps working and continues to provide navigation
- the whole FMS system is unserviceable until the pilot switches over to standby

In a dual installation the two FMS computers back each other up: if one fails, the remaining units continue to operate with full control, and in master/spare designs the spare is promoted to master automatically with no loss of flight plan. The system is therefore not out of service waiting for a switch-over, and the flight plan does not have to be re-entered. What the failed unit itself displays, for example a FAIL message, depends on the installation.

Was trying to find the correct answer to it and i would pick the offered one, because dual mode is the normal mode of the system. In DUAL mode the two FMCs communicate with each other(crosstalk).When crosstalk or re-synchronization is attempted and fails, each FMC will revert to a completely INDEPENDENT mode of operation without crosstalk. So, if 1 FMS fails, it is not going to take any info from the other FMS until synchronization condition are met.

no dont be confused,it talks about the FMS as a system and thus it goes blank.If it said like in an other question 'FMS CDU" and not FMS only then yes it would be ok with the remaining one.
