In radar antenna stabilisation the versine signal, proportional to one minus the cosine of the attitude angle, is derived to correct the antenna for aircraft roll. It supplies the additional displacement needed to keep the scanned beam level as the aircraft banks, so the signal is governed by the roll attitude rather than pitch or yaw.
