When manufacturing aircraft control cables, the cable can be cut by
- using a hacksaw with the cable held under tension.
- using an oxy-acetylene cutting torch.
- using a chisel on a flat metal surface.

Control cable is cut cleanly by shearing it with a sharp chisel against a flat metal block, which keeps the strands together and avoids local heating. A hacksaw lets the wires splay and birdcage, while an oxy-acetylene torch would anneal and embrittle the high-tensile steel, destroying its strength.

Just like its better to use a cable to lock up your bicycle because when someone tries to cut it it tends to flatten out and gets harder to cut.cable needs to be cut with a hydraulic knife blade or chisel.
