When leak testing with a colour contrast field kit, the soak time for a component less than 1/8 in. (3mm) thick would be
- at least twice the normal required soak time.
- at least 3 times the normal soak time.
- at least the standard normal soak time.
Explanation from PART66Online
Leak detection through a thin section relies on the penetrant migrating right through the wall, which takes much longer than detecting a surface flaw; for a part under about 3 mm thick the soak (dwell) time is increased to at least three times the normal value. The standard or merely doubled time would not reliably allow full through-penetration.

simon i think it is 1 time per mm here is is 3mm but maybe im wrong.
