Whenever possible a functional test should be carried out on an aircraft using which power supply?
- The aircraft battery.
- The aircraft generators.
- An external supply.
Explanation from PART66Online
Functional tests should wherever possible be powered from an external ground supply so the aircraft's own battery and generators are not unnecessarily drained or stressed and a stable, known supply is used. The battery has limited capacity and running generators is not appropriate for a static bench test. An external supply is the preferred source.

anyone got a reference for this question? i would have thought best option is to use the aircraft generators where possible as you would then be checking the entire system.
