Module 7. Maintenance practices

What is the allowable reaction on a rivet?

  • 2D
  • 1D
  • 1.5D

Explanation

When checking a driven rivet, the permissible eccentricity or reaction of the formed head relative to the rivet is held within one rivet diameter, expressed as 1D. Allowing 1.5D or 2D would exceed the accepted limit for a satisfactory rivet.

rgcaires asking:

Could anyone help with this question? I couldnt find what allowable reaction is... Thanks a lot

Everything I have read on this has said that it is a range, from 1D to 1.5D so both are technically correct, maybe the question should be changed "What is the minimum allowable reaction on a rivet?"
