Radiographing a substantial structure such as a wing requires radiation able to penetrate the thickness and varying density of the assembly, which demands high-voltage (high-kV) X-rays. Low-voltage X-rays lack the penetrating power for thick structure, and ultrasonic methods are better suited to specific local checks than imaging a whole built-up structure.

why low voltage?We are talking about the structure of a wing.Would low voltage be sufficient enough to penetrate the wing?I think high is correct.
