Module 13. Aircraft aerodynamics, structures and systems

The maximum azimuth coverage by a MLS facility is

  • +/-60 degrees
  • +/-40 degrees
  • +/- 35 degrees

Explanation

An MLS azimuth station provides guidance over a wide sector, with maximum proportional azimuth coverage extending to about plus or minus 60 degrees either side of the runway centreline. This wide coverage is one of MLS's advantages over ILS, allowing curved and segmented approaches within the sector.

sasna asking:

Up to +/-60 degrees but usually it is +/-40 degrees. This is an advantage of MLS over ILS.
