Armature reaction in a DC generator causes

  • MNA to move in the opposite direction of rotation.
  • MNA to move in the direction of rotation.
  • GNA to move in the direction of rotation.

Explanation

In a generator the armature field distorts the main field so that the magnetic neutral axis is shifted forward, in the direction of armature rotation. Brushes must then be advanced to this new neutral to commutate without sparking. In a motor the shift is the opposite way.
