Module 15. Gas turbine engine

E.I.U ignitor plugs receive their electrical supply from

  • discharge inductor.
  • starter system electrical circuit.
  • discharge capacitor.

Explanation

In a capacitor-discharge ignition unit the energy is stored in a capacitor, then released as a high-energy pulse across the igniter plug to create the spark. The plug therefore receives its supply from the discharge capacitor, not from the starter circuit or a simple inductor.

titanas20 asking:

What is "E.I.U"?

Why not just call it Excitor box? Most vendors, suppliers & techies call it that way too... lets not speek about AMM's, IPC's & EMM's. try to find a E.I.U. in a Boeing, MD, Fokker, Embraer manual, GE, RR & P&W manual and you will be busi for a very long time!
