What is the minimum bend radius of a loom adequately supported at a terminal block?

Where a loom is adequately supported close to a terminal block, the cable may be bent to a tighter minimum radius of three times its diameter because the support prevents strain at the bend. Unsupported runs require a larger radius to avoid overstressing the conductors.

why is 3*d and not 8*d?

8x the Diameter is for an unsupported cable, any less then this and you run the risk of flattening the dielectric plates and degrading the centre conductor. however 3x is acceptable when the cable is supported along it's run through out the bend.
