Module 3. Electrical fundamentals

In a Wheatstone Bridge, the ammeter reads zero, and the variable resistor is adjusted to 5 ohms. Resistor P has a value of 10 ohms and Q has a value of 100 ohms. What is the value of the unknown resistor?

  • 5 ohms.
  • 0.5 ohms.
  • 50 ohms.

Explanation

At balance, P/Q = R/X, so the unknown X = R x (Q/P) = 5 x (100/10) = 50 ohms. The 0.5-ohm option inverts the arm ratio; 5 ohms ignores it entirely.

Since there is not any electrical diagram the correct answer could be either B and C
