If the bypass ratio is 0.7:1, the 0.7 pounds of air is

  • fed into H.P compressor compared to 1 pound fed around it.
  • fed around the engine to 1 pound fed into H.P. compressor.
  • bypassed for every 1 pound at the intake.

The Bypass ratio of an engine is the ratio between the mass flow rate of air (70%-80% of Air)that is drawn into the engine fan bypassing (Going around) the engine core to the mass flow rate (20%-30% of Air) that is passing through the engine core; the compressor and combustion chamber.
