To prevent wet arc tracking
- cable grips should be kept tight.
- ensure hot stamp printing is controlled.
- cables should not be excessively stretched.
Explanation from PART66Online
Wet arc tracking begins where the conductor insulation is locally degraded so that moisture and contamination can sustain a carbon track. Hot-stamp identification marking, if mis-set in temperature or pressure, scorches and weakens the insulation at the print, creating exactly such an initiation site. Controlling the hot-stamp process protects the insulation and removes that starting point, whereas grip tension and stretching are mechanical, not tracking, concerns.
