When torque loading, a wrench should be selected where the required value falls
- at the top end of the range.
- in the middle of the range.
- at the bottom end of the range.

A torque wrench is most accurate in the central part of its scale, so a wrench should be chosen so the required value falls near the middle of its range. Readings at the extreme bottom or top of the range carry the greatest percentage error and risk under- or over-tightening the fastener.

accurately, and some manufacturers specify that the torque wrench selected for a
particular use should have a range such that the specified torque falls within the upper
range of the scale.
