At resonance a parallel R-L-C circuit presents its maximum impedance, because the inductive and capacitive branch currents cancel and only the resistive branch draws current from the supply. Trebling the inductance destroys that balance, so the two branch currents no longer cancel, the supply current rises and the impedance falls. Moving L or C away from resonance in either direction can only reduce it.

Hello.

Here is explanation from question bank:
At resonance, the impedance of the L-C pair is maximum. If you upset the L-C balance you destroy the resonance. The impedance of the L-C pair will then reduce, reducing the impedance of the circuit as a whole (although 'by one-third' is debatable).

for resonance, if inductance is 3 times more the capacitance has to be 3 times more, to get this three times capacitance we can say impedance reduced by one third...
