Module 2. Physics

The angular velocity of 500 RPM is, in rads/seconds is equal to

  • 33.33pi rads/s.
  • 52.36pi rads/s.
  • 16.66pi rads/s.

Explanation

Angular velocity in rad/s equals RPM x 2 pi / 60. For 500 RPM this is 500 x 2 pi / 60 = 1000 pi / 60 = 16.66 pi rad/s. The conversion divides revolutions per minute by 60 to get per second and multiplies by 2 pi radians per revolution.

500 revolutions per minute = 8.3 revolutions per second.
1 revolution equals 2pi radians.
So answer is 8.3 * 2pi = 16.6pi rads/sec
