The time required to fully charge a 1 uF capacitor in series with a 100k ohm resistor is

  • 100 seconds.
  • 100 milliseconds.
  • 500 milliseconds.

Explanation from PART66Online

The time constant tau = RC = 100 kohm * 1 microF = 0.1 s = 100 ms. A capacitor is regarded as fully charged after about five time constants, so 5 * 100 ms = 500 ms. The 100 ms value is just one time constant, when the capacitor has reached only 63.2% of full charge.

the ans should be 100 millisec. T=RC.

Hello.

You are wrong.
RC is not a time of full charge, it is time constant.
So, time constant is 100 ms. Time-constant is time to reach 63.2% of full charge. Time to fully charge = 5 * TC
So, time to full charge is 500 ms.
