Module 13. Aircraft aerodynamics, structures and systems

The electrical A/H has a movement of

  • 360 in roll and 85 in pitch
  • 360 in roll and 110 in pitch
  • 85 degree in pitch and roll

Explanation

An electrically driven attitude indicator (artificial horizon) typically allows full 360 degrees of freedom in roll while pitch is limited to about 85 degrees. The pitch limit keeps the display readable near the vertical and prevents gimbal toppling, whereas roll is unrestricted so the instrument follows the aircraft through a complete bank.
