Avdel rivets are closed by
- a broaching process.
- a tapered mandrel.
- a squeezing process.
Explanation from PART66Online
Avdel rivets are set by the tool pulling the stem so a hardened portion of the stem is drawn (broached) through the rivet bore, expanding the shank to form the blind head and locking the joint. This broaching action distinguishes them from rivets closed by a simple tapered mandrel or by a squeezing/upsetting process.
