Module 7. Maintenance practices

A Dial Test Indicator may be used for

  • checking a round bar for bow.
  • checking dimensions to within 0.125 inch.
  • checking any known depth measurement.

Explanation

A dial test indicator reads small plunger movements, so a round bar can be rotated against the stylus and any bow shows up as needle deflection, indicating the run-out. Its fine scale is for small variations, not coarse 0.125 inch steps, and it measures relative movement rather than absolute depths from a datum.

Jordi asking:

D.T.I why isnt the 3d option?Because it says "any"?
