x - 0.15x = 4500
0.85x = 4500
x = 4500 / 0.85
x = 5294 (5300 as answer)

Or alternatively,another equivalent way which doesn't involve algebra is to say:
If you got 15% discount, then what you actually paid was 85%. So 4500 is 85% or 85/100 (eighty five hundredths). The price before discount is 100/100. So divide 4500 by 85 and multiply it by 100 to get the price before discount. You could also say that 15% is 3/20 (three twentieths) so that 4500 is 17/20 - so divide by 17 and multiply by 20 - but its the same thing.
