Module 13. Aircraft aerodynamics, structures and systems

The length of a resonant antenna dipole is

  • lambda
  • lambda/2
  • lambda/4

Explanation

A resonant half-wave dipole has a physical length of one half wavelength (lambda/2), which makes it electrically resonant and efficient at the operating frequency. A full wavelength or a quarter wavelength would not give the simple centre-fed dipole its resonant behaviour.

sam1969 asking:

Q897) The length of a resonant antenna dipole is -lambda/2
Q955) The length of a resonant antenna dipole is -Lambda/4
There can only be one answer? I think - Lambda/4
Any ideas?

I think it is lambda/2, which is half a wavelength
