Module 13. Aircraft aerodynamics, structures and systems

A typical emergency locator transmitter (ELT)

  • receives 2 frequencies
  • transmit 3 frequencies
  • transmits 2 frequencies

Explanation

A typical ELT is a transmit-only beacon that radiates on two distress frequencies, traditionally 121.5 and 243.0 MHz, to aid search and rescue homing. It does not receive, and the two-frequency transmission is what allows both civil and military receivers to home on it.

nairs asking:

CAPABLE OF TRANSMITTING IN 3 FREQ.
