A circuit has a resistance of 50 ohms and an inductance of 0.2 Henry. If it is connected to a 200 volt 50 Hz supply the reactance will be

  • 31.42 ohms.
  • 62.84 ohms.
  • 6.284 ohms.

Explanation from PART66Online

Inductive reactance is XL = 2 x pi x f x L = 2 x pi x 50 x 0.2 = about 62.84 ohms. The resistance value is not part of the reactance calculation. The 31.42 ohm answer would result from using half the inductance or omitting a factor of 2.

use formula = 2*Pi*f*l where Pi=3.14 f=0.2 and L=50
