Module 3. Electrical fundamentals

If a capacitor 1µF and an inductor 10mH are connected in parallel what is their approximate resonant frequency?

  • 1.6 kHz.
  • 62 Hz.
  • 3.2 MHz.

Explanation

Resonant frequency is f = 1 / (2 x pi x square root of (L x C)). With L = 10 mH and C = 1 microfarad, LC = 1e-8, its square root is 1e-4, so f = 1 / (2 x pi x 1e-4), which is about 1.6 kHz.

f°=1/2π√(LC)
