If cos 60 is 0.5, what is sin 30?

  • 0.5
  • 0.866
  • None of the above.

Explanation from PART66Online

Sine and cosine of complementary angles are equal, so sin 30 equals cos 60. Since cos 60 is given as 0.5, sin 30 is also 0.5. The value 0.866 is sin 60 (or cos 30), which applies to the complementary angle, not 30 degrees.
