Module 3. Electrical fundamentals

In a circuit containing three resistors of equal value connected in parallel, one resistor goes open circuit. The current in the other two resistors will

  • decrease.
  • increase.
  • remain the same.

Explanation

In a parallel arrangement each resistor has the full supply voltage across it independently of the others. When one branch opens, the voltage on the remaining two is unchanged, so by Ohm's law their individual currents stay the same; only the total supply current falls.

maximillian asking:

should be 'increase' right ?

Don't confuse current with resistance.
