In a starter generator which coil is used for starting?

  • Shunt, series and compensating windings
  • series compensating windings
  • Shunt compensating windings

Explanation from PART66Online

When a starter-generator acts as a starter motor it needs high torque, so it runs as a compound/series machine using its series, shunt and compensating (interpole) windings together. This gives the strong starting torque required to crank the engine.
