What would be the diameter and length of a solid rivet if the following markings are given, AS 162-408?

  • 1/4 inch dia, 1/2 inch length.
  • 1/2 inch dia, 1 inch length.
  • 1/8 inch dia, 1/2 inch length.

Explanation from PART66Online

In the dash-number code the first figure gives diameter in thirty-seconds and the second gives length in sixteenths. So -4 is 4/32 = 1/8 inch diameter and -08 is 8/16 = 1/2 inch length, giving a 1/8-inch diameter, 1/2-inch long rivet.

Hello JIVITESH!

AS (Aircraft Standard) rivets sizes can be identified by last 3 digits. In this case - 408.
4 describes diameter in thirty seconds of an inch: 4/32 = 1/8
8 describes lenght in sixteens of an inch: 8/16 = 1/2
