A cockpit check on the engine firewire system is a
- continuity check.
- calibration check.
- function check.
Explanation from PART66Online
The flight-deck test of an engine firewire loop is a continuity check - it confirms the continuous loop is electrically intact end-to-end and the warning circuit functions, by simulating a signal around the loop. It is not a calibration of trip temperature, which is a workshop/ground task, so continuity is what the cockpit check verifies.
