Module 11. Aeroplane aerodynamics, structures and systems

Inwards relief valves usually open at a negative differential pressure not exceeding

  • 0.16 p.s.i.
  • 1.2 p.s.i.
  • 0.5 p.s.i.

Explanation

Inward relief (negative-pressure relief) valves protect the structure against the cabin pressure falling below outside pressure, for example in a rapid descent with the cabin already at low pressure. They are set to open at a small negative differential, typically not exceeding about 0.5 psi, so the structure is never highly loaded inward.

simontay asking:

I thought it should be 0.5 psi
