Copper is an inferior conductor to aluminium when comparing
- weight for weight.
- CSA with CSA.
- load for load.
Explanation
Aluminium has higher resistivity than copper for an equal cross-section, but it is far less dense, so on a weight-for-weight basis a given mass of aluminium conducts better than the same mass of copper. Compared by equal CSA or equal load, copper is the superior conductor.
