Floor proximity lighting is a mandatory requirement and each light should be spaced

  • at 70 inch intervals.
  • at 60 inch intervals.
  • at 40 inch intervals.

Explanation from PART66Online

Floor proximity emergency escape-path lighting is mandatory and the individual lights are spaced at roughly 40-inch intervals so the illuminated path to the exits stays continuous and visible near the floor in smoke. The 60 and 70 inch spacings would leave excessive dark gaps between units.
