Module 13. Aircraft aerodynamics, structures and systems

CVR is unserviceable

  • The aircraft cannot fly unless required data is recorded by FDR
  • The aircraft can fly for 72 hours since unserviceablity
  • The aircraft can fly for 4 days since unserviceablity

Explanation

An unserviceable cockpit voice recorder is normally a permitted dispatch item under the MEL for a limited period of 72 hours from the time of failure, provided the flight data recorder remains operative. The 4-day allowance is incorrect and an outright grounding is not required.

Jordi asking:

i also think this is wrong. The aircraft is not airworthy is it doesnt have a CVR .Especially when we are talking about civil aviation which the licenses refer to.
