Given the log of A exceeds that of B by 4, find the correct statement about A and B.

  • A is 4000 times the value of B.
  • A is 10,000 times the value of B.
  • A is 1000 times the value of B.

Explanation from PART66Online

If log A - log B = 4, then log(A/B) = 4, so A/B = 10^4 = 10000. Therefore A is 10,000 times B.

It is assumed that the log is base 10. So 10 to power 4 = 10*10*10*10 = 10000
