Module 3. Electrical fundamentals

One revolution of a three phase generator will produce

  • 1 cycle.
  • 3 cycles.
  • 2 cycles.

Explanation

In a two-pole three-phase generator one mechanical revolution corresponds to one complete electrical cycle, since the number of cycles per revolution equals the number of pole pairs. Each of the three phases completes that single cycle, just displaced 120 degrees from the others, so the output is one cycle per revolution, not three.

3 phase generatir....
that mean 1 rev will produce cycle??

I would have thought that 1 revolution of the rotor will give 1 cycle of output PER PHASE and that in total you get 3 cycles each separated by 120 degrees.
