Lateral stability is about the

  • longitudinal axis.
  • normal axis.
  • vertical axis.

Explanation

Lateral stability is the resistance to rolling, and roll occurs about the longitudinal axis running nose to tail through the centre of gravity. Wing dihedral and sweepback generate the restoring rolling moment after a wing drops. Yaw and pitch take place about the normal and lateral axes, so those are not concerned with lateral stability.
