Drag varies with the square of the airspeed, so doubling the speed multiplies the drag by four. Starting from 3 lbs at 100 kt, the drag at 200 kt is 3 x 2 squared, which equals 3 x 4, giving 12 lbs. Answers of 9 lbs or 6 lbs ignore the square-law relationship.
