How many electrons does an `S` orbital hold?

  • 6.
  • 8.
  • 2.

Explanation from PART66Online

An s orbital holds a maximum of two electrons, which must have opposite spins by the Pauli exclusion principle. The higher capacities of 6 and 8 belong to p orbitals and to whole shells respectively, not to a single s orbital.
