A vessel has 25 ml of water which produces 10 kPa. If another 125 ml of water is added, what will be the pressure in the vessel?
- 40kPa
- 50kPa
- 60kPa
Explanation
Pressure from a liquid column in the same vessel rises in proportion to the amount of water present. Starting with 25 ml giving 10 kPa, adding 125 ml gives 150 ml in total, which is six times the original volume, so the pressure becomes six times 10 kPa, or 60 kPa.

125/25=5
5*10=50
Since you already have 25ml in the vessel producing 10kPa, you simply add the 50kPa which are produced when the extra 125ml is added.
10+50=60
