Induced drag
- is equal to the profile drag at Vmd.
- is equal to the profile drag at the stalling speed.
- is never equal to the profile drag.
Explanation from PART66Online
Induced drag falls with speed while profile (parasite) drag rises with speed; the total-drag curve is minimum where these two are equal. That speed is the minimum-drag speed (Vmd), so by definition induced drag equals profile drag at Vmd, not at the stall.
