If an aircraft is yawing to the left, where would you position the trim tab on the rudder?

  • To the centre.
  • To the left.
  • To the right.

If aircraft is yawing to the left you have to move RUDDER to the RIGHT.
To move rudder to the right you have to move TRIM TAB to the LEFT.

I agree, but question is no about rudder itself but about it's trim tab. Please read question carefully.

All of the above assumes that you want the aircraft to return to straight flight. A famous Battle of Britain Spitfire pilot called Bob Doe used set his rudder trim in the combat area so that the aircraft would fly yawing to the left or right, because any enemy about to train his guns on him from behind would aim for a point ahead of where the nose was pointing. By using the trim the aircraft track and the nose direction were not the same!
